Healing Mother Sanctuary, A Sacred Place of Care and Compassion for Buddhist Nuns and Devoted Mothers

About Our Sanctuary
Suwa Mau Arana, meaning "Healing Mother Sanctuary," is a special charitable sanctuary dedicated to caring for two precious groups of women who have devoted their lives to the Buddhist Sasana (බුදු සසුන).
Established under the compassionate guidance of Venerable Galigamuwe Gnanadeepa Thero, this sanctuary serves as a sacred merit field (පිංබිමෙහි) where these devoted women receive the care, support, and dignity they deserve in their later years or during times of illness.
The Sacred Merit Field
Suwa Mau Arana serves as a powerful merit field where donors can accumulate immense spiritual merit (පින්) by supporting these devoted women. In Buddhism, caring for ordained nuns and honoring mothers who have dedicated their children to the Sasana is considered one of the highest forms of generosity.
To provide loving care, shelter, food, medicine, and spiritual support to sick ordained nuns and mothers who have made the supreme sacrifice of dedicating their children to the Buddhist Sasana. These women have given everything for the dharma - now it is our turn to care for them.

Who We Serve
Two special groups of women who have dedicated their lives to the Buddhist Sasana
Sick Ordained Nuns
Buddhist nuns (sil matas) who have taken ordination and dedicated their entire lives to practicing and preserving the dharma. Many of these devoted women have served the Sasana for decades, teaching, meditating, and guiding others on the Buddhist path.
Devoted Mothers
Mothers who have made the ultimate sacrifice of dedicating their sons to become Buddhist monks. These extraordinary women have given up their children - often their only support in old age - so that the Buddhist Sasana can continue and flourish.
Make Your Donation
Your generous contribution helps maintain the sacred stupa, support the monks, and continue our spiritual services. Every donation earns merit (පින්) and helps preserve this holy place.
