The Monk Who Never Fell Ill
Who Was Arahant Bakkula?
Arahant Bakkula was one of the great disciples of Lord Buddha, renowned for his exceptional health and longevity. He lived for 160 years and remarkably, never experienced any illness throughout his entire life - not even a headache!
His story is truly extraordinary. As a baby, he was accidentally swallowed by a fish while being bathed in a river. Miraculously, when the fish was caught and cut open, the baby was found alive and completely unharmed. This miracle demonstrated the power of his past good karma.
In a previous life, Bakkula had been a physician who offered free medical treatment to Buddhist monks. Because of this generous act of healing, he was blessed with perfect health for 160 years and never needed medicine himself.
